Raymond Hoskins

Raymond Hoskins, 69, passed away early Saturday morning, Feburary 13, 2010 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Betty (Carman) Hoskins, his sons, Robert Karpensky, and Donald (Kelly) Karpensky, his brothers and sisters; Larry Hoskins, Randy (Melissa) Hoskins, Rusty (Diane) Hoskins, Shirley Guiles, Donna (Harold) Arnold, Judy Smith, sister-in-law, Judy Hoskins Heeman, brothers-in-laws, Dean Gurney and John Wood, his 9 Grandchildren; Sheri, Jake, Maria, Guy, Danielle, Mindy, James, Dulcie, Kyle, 14 Great-Grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters, Robert and Gary Hoskins, Sharon Gurney, Cleo Wood, and brother-in-law, Raymond Guiles. Raymond was born November 29, 1940 in Richford, NY a son of the late Robert and Evelyn (Talcott) Hoskins. He was raised on a farm, grew to love farming, and made farming his lifelong career. In his younger years he participated in pony pulls, and enjoyed hunting and motorcycling. Raymond and Betty assisted in the raising of several of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren during their the 48 years of marriage. He was a cheerful man, and maintained his sense of humor even during the toughest times of his illness. Raymond's family will recive their friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, on Monday, February 15 from 5 - 7 PM and Tuesday morning from 10-11 am. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Loren Winn, of the First Baptist Church of Maine officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
