Lee A. Bodie Jr., 88, of Newark Vaelley, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, June (Ketchum) Bodie, his devoted daughters, Bonnie (David) Harvey, Beverly (Raymond) Cosimano, step-son, Gerald (Jackie) Dunphy, brother, Donald (Ileene) Bodie, sister Jacquelyn Felter, sister-in-law, Barbara Bodie, cherished grandchildren, Karel (Drew) James, Todd (Denise) Harvey, Beth (Guy) Margallo, Rachel Cosimano, Sarah Cosimano, Jason(Heather) Dunphy, Alex Dunphy and great grandchildren, Bradley and Nathan James, Matthew Margallo, Jiandra Harvey. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Lee A. and Elsie (Romberger) Bodie, his brother G.William Bodie and stepson, Robert Dunphy. Lee was born in Waverly, NY on July 10, 1921. He was a graduate of Union Endicott High School, Class of '39 and a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Endicott, ONYX Chapter 196, OES (Past Patron), Speedsville - Newark Valley Masonic Lodge #265, F&AM (Past Master), Kalurah Shrine Club, and a chosen member and past Impresario of The Jesters, Binghamton Court 61. He was also Past Grand Officer of OES in NYS and a recipient of the Masonic Dedicated Service Award. He retired from IBM, Glendale in 1980 following 40 years of service. Following his retirement, Lee and June enjoyed traveling and it was at this time in his life that Lee began his wood carving hobby. His artistry and craftsmanship earned him the title of Master Wood Carver. Lee was also a Shriner Mini-Biker and to the delight of many participated with his group in parades throughout the area. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Lee's Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at Central United Methodist Church, Endicott. An Eastern Star and Masonic Service will be held at 3 PM followed by a Memorial Service and Celebration of Lee's Life. Rev. Douglas Clark, Pastor, will officiate assisted by Rev. Hose Valencia. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Lee with a memorial contribution are asked to kindly consider The Shriners Hospital for Children c/o Kalurah Shriners, 625 Dickson St. Endicott, NY 13760, in memory of Lee A.
