Donald K. Geiger

Donald K. Geiger, 78, went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia (Daniels) Geiger, his children, Daniel (Marilyn) Geiger, Sharon (Bart) Dellapenna, Michael Goodwin, Kathy (George) Dickenson, Timothy (May) Geiger, and Polley (Stephen) Eichmann. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Elijah, Luke, Lydia, Gracelyn and Joash Eichmann, Brian (Abby) Card, Andy (Chelsy) Card, Heather Card, Joel (Dana) Geiger, Jason (Sarah) Darling, Laura (Ed) LaPier, Tiffany (Tim) Rincavage, Michelle (Steve) Guenther, Molly and Michael Geiger; his 7 great grandchildren, his brother Richard (Janet), sister-in-law, Barbara Henderson, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.Don was born on July 23, 1932 in Allentown, PA, a son of Alfred and Margaret (Schnering) Geiger. He was predeceased by his wife Louise (Northrup) Geiger in 1969. He attended Athens High School, served 4 years in the US Navy (US Destroyer WOOD) and was a 30 year employee of IBM, Owego in the Security Department.Don was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley where he had served in the calling program and as an usher. He was passionate about evangelism and loved to talk and share the Lord whenever possible. He was an avid fisherman, especially knowledgeable about trout and salmon fishing. His most treasured moments were times spent with his children and grandchildren.His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley Sunday from 2-4 PM. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Newark Valley on Monday at 11 AM with Pastor Michael Spiegel officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 40 Whig St., Newark Valley, NY 13811 in memory of Donald Geiger.
